4 days / 3 nights

Get on board for the experience of a lifetime at Canada’s only Grizzy Bear Sanctuary, the legendary Khutzeymateen, which is 60 miles north of Prince Rupert near the Alaskan border. On this magical journey North on the beautiful Pacific Ocean through Chatham Sound, you will witness two of the village sites of the Tsimshian First Nation, who have inhabited this area for thousands of years. You will be surrounded by the unsurpassed grandeur of the majestic coastal mountains and ancient rain forest. Photographers glory in the abundant wildlife along the way such as playful porpoises skimming the waters alongside the boat, curious sea otters, or Humpback, Gray, Orcas and Minke whales found feeding on the abundance of sea life.
The Sanctuary is the only one of its kind in North America, and it protects prime grizzly bear habitat, which is ecologically diverse, rare and extremely fragile. Over 50 grizzlies along with numerous black bears, make their home in this mystical area of unsurpassing beauty. Bear watching here begins in the spring around May when these great lumbering giants descend from their dens to feed on the shoreline sedges and skunk cabbage. We quietly glide at a safe distance along the shoreline in our Zodiac and kayaks, and hypnotically study them as they graze, frolic with each other, and swim in the ocean. Other abundant wildlife also abound in this magical surrealistic area with massive pods of humpback and killer whales, playful sea otters and seals, majestic bald eagles, bighorn sheep and much more awaits you on this 4 day and 3 night tour.
